What he said- my thoughts too. Really nice pick! Thanks for showing- HH! Yak

That is a nice blade. Thanks for sharing. I'm from Georgia but have never heard of Silkhope. Where is it?

That is a Cobbs blade for sure, nice find:thumbsup:

Silkhope is a neighborhood, US 17 south of Savannah at 307. This area was a silk farm experiment in the late 1700's, it failed but has always been know as silkhope.
thanks for the Info on the point. This point fell out of a high hoe bucket while digging a pipeline.

I bet it's a preform/blade, not a "type" as is. I've seen Bolen and Kirk preforms/knives look like that and Hamilton knives/preforms. Excurvate blade, basal thinning...... Looks like preceramic Archaic work on a finished knife...... Do I detect a bevel or is that a light trick boom??? NICE patina!

I've seen many people call any similar looking "point" by a "known type name point" from a certain area. In GA, I'm not sure those are type names used by collectors. GA and FL points are pretty similar but I am no typologist. I/ve never seen a Cobb's in FL and Stanfield here is more likely a knife of some time period.....not a type here IMHOP. But you might have 'em up there. Confused now? LOL

All edges are worked. the bottom edge seems to be worked to a finer edge than the sides. the part I call the back is almost flat and the front has a slight dome to it.
