I don't usually spend much at sales unless it's something i'm familiar with. But when I saw this thing, I had to have it. It was purchased at a moving sale that was on the rich side of town. The house was a small mansion to say the least. The lady said her mother purchased it at DCOTA (Design Center of the Americas) which is a very upscale “trade-only facility” where you have to be accompanied by a designer to get in. I did a sisal job in there probably 10-12 years ago and the prices for things are thru the roof. I remember seeing a couch for $8 grand and a lamp for several thousand too and they weren't even antique.
Designer = big money. Anyway back to my purchase. I asked her how much and she said $60, after a bit if haggling I got her down to $40. I don't know what it's worth and the pictures don't do it justice but I like it, alot. It stands 19-20 inches high, about 10 inches wide and weighs 18.7 pounds. It's marbled lucite or acrylic. It is signed but I can't figure out the signature. I guess they are Angelfish. Anyway I just wanted to share it because I like it (even more than my pottery). Now I need to find the right kind of pedastal to set it on in my foyer. Thanks for looking. Here's the pics-
