Re: I think it is a small bell with a peice missing!
They were found about 5-6 inches down at our house in Norcross GA. The house was built in 1880. Both of the items were laying next to each other had the same coloring and vdi numbering. It looks like it might be an old hand bell. Each piece has a small machined like hole in it but I could not find the piece that would connect them if there was one.
Re: I think it is a small bell with a peice missing!
Yes there is a connector but the clapper is either rusted out or missing. It is very rusty near the inner top of the bell portion. Any opinions on cleaning it up would be greatly appreciated. Also if anyone would possibly know the make or age of the item. I know it is unlikely with no markings or labels anywhere except for two short straight vertical cuts next to each other on the inside wall of the bell. Thanks again for everyone's time and help!!
Yea it is real small. I have soaked it for a couple of days. Now in this picture you can tell that there is a connector where a clapper or something attached. The word INDIA can now also be seen on the iside of the bell.
