Detector(s) used
explorer se,excal 1000,whites MXT,and a E-trac
I traded my mxt and my excal1000 for a SE. I got it in the mail two days ago and took it out with the 10 inch slimline coil and hunted for about 4 hours, and by the end of the day I wanted to throw the detector in the lake. I was getting false singles all over the place, at the end of my hunt I didn't have one target worth the time to talk about. I went home very frustrated and got on some forums to read as much as I could. I was hunting in the factory presets at a slow pace so i don't think my technique was the issue. I read on allot of different setting but i don't think minelab would use bad setting on a high end detector. So today when I went out I use the minelab 8 inch coil, OOOOO my god what a differences I only got hunt for about an hour but man I was having a blast, no falling, just a great day I am so much happier now. I haven't had a chance to go through my finds yet but I have to have about 3 dollars in change. I even dug a clad dime at over 8 inches, my mxt would never hit that. I found two quarters and a penny under a pulltab.. this detector rocks.. now I want to get the pro coil and a sun ray probe and I think this thing will be a tot lot killer...

Well thanks for reading my little vent but I had to share my experiences with my SE...

I have to old 10" still.. The one even before the slimline. And yes they can be unstable in certain places, especially if you don't noise cancel.
But "real" signals cut the threshold for a while (it stops) those random signals do not, the threshold will still be heard on those random signals.

Don't forget to look into the S.E.F from Detech, seems they are very popular in the UK.

Hope this helps,
Eu

thanks Eu_citzen I will look at that coil...
