The tic-tac-toe pattern should read:
(Mint) (Denomination in Escudos) (Assayer's Initial)
P V A (Latin abbrev. for 'Plus Ultra'--more beyond)
7 1 4 (looks like) representing the last three digits of date

The "M" assayer on your 'coin', represents Cristobal Melgarejo, assayer of the Lima, Peru mint from 1709-1728. He was the principal assayer for the gold coins of the 1715 fleet.
