I've been hunting almost a half century and
that is one thing that has eluded me the
whole time. :BangHead:

So.....I'm setting my "bar". I *WILL* find
a gold coin! THIS YEAR!

I know I will! For, at worst, if I don't have
one by the end of this year.....

I will take all my clad and go "FIND" one at
a local yard sale! :tongue3:

Anyway, back to today. Such a beautiful pre-Spring
day! I went for a long walk at a favorite clad-farm.

Ummmm... "R A 5 7" ? :dontknow:

Then, OTWBTTC.....

This machine never ceases to amaze me!
I couldn't even see this thing up close
and personal!

2018 (95).webp

Look at how FRAGILE that thing looks!

Of course, Fishy is enjoying all the new toys.

2018 (97).webp

And the Blingster seems taken by this wisp of a ring.

And I believe he has very good reason.
By the way, the lil stones? They are all mounted
with an opening behind each one! There is a
*LOT* of work in this piece!

Thanks for peeking folks!

Just go poke around California with CA-Tom and Basque-Man for a couple days and one will pop up out of the ground for ya. Good luck!

I can confirm that they are out there waiting to be found. Good luck

For what it's worth, I'll happily give up my opportunity for a gold coin if it means you will find one! (I've only been at this for less than one year, so my bar is pretty low. I'm still chasing my first IHP, my first Barber, my first seated/walking/standing/sleeping/leaning-slightly-to-one-side, etc...). I wish you well!

Good Luck on your quest for a gold coin...may the luck of the coil be with you! :icon_thumleft:

I'm rooting for you Whadi. Go get one.

Thanks for all your support folks!
:)

I have found a few now, all never where I would have expected them and all since 2011. All THREE at salt water beaches. One from a shipwreck, the other two I think lost from people's friction fit pendants. Go figure. I also bought a slabbed gold coin some years ago thinking I'd never find one. I still have it.

I told my hunting bud TP that i was pretty sure i have gone over one and didn't dig it and he made my day by saying..I probably went over a half dozen ....if that didn't make my day.....:BangHead:....

I will do the same, since I'm also looking for most of Tom's list. With the exception of the "leaning-slightly-to-one-side". I found that one already. You can have my chances as well!

The great thing about this hobby is the odds. We all have better odds of finding a gold coin than winning the lottery. :occasion14:

47+ years of detecting and no gold coin for me either, so, I know your pain! I have found hundreds of gold jewelry items, old coins of all sorts, but, that gold coin has so far eluded me. I agree, this is the year! :icon_thumright:

cudamark,Since you have been metal detecting since 1970,what was your detectors name.My first one was of a beat frequency type.

Cool ring with a lot of work on it. With all the amazing stuff you find, a gold coin should be in your future.

You had a great stroll at the clad farm! Blingie would agree.

Fishy and his new blue turtle friend can go swimming when the water warms up....i would suggest he wiggle out of the silver circle before jumping in.

Pretty ring, and the stones may be real! Awesome!

I am still looking for one of those round shinny gold coins.

There are lots and lots of gold coins sitting in the dirt, just waiting to see sunlight again.
The only hard part is getting the coil over them and close enough to make your detector sing sweetly of the hidden prize.

Go for it!
Have a bottle of asprin with you & 911 on speed dial, just in case, it has lots of friends!

You know we all will want pics and story!

The power of positive thinking is incredible!! Nice finds, what do you know about that buckle? I found one that looks just like it, I am assuming it is horse tack?

My *very* first detector?

A Radio Shack. LOL!

My 2nd? A Garrett Groundhog. I *still* have it and....it still works!!! LOLOL!

I hate to think how many gold coins I've walked right over! :BangHead:

I don't know my relics too well. More of a coinshooter.
But yeah, I think it's some sort of harness buckle. :dontknow:
