Hey all, we were finally able to get out detecting again. Earlier this week, we hit the Iceberg again, and once again it still came through for us. For most of the hunt, I sort of wandered around the areas that we’ve hammered in the past, picking up some older wheats. Got a war nickel in the wheatfield. During the last hour or two however, we decided to try a different section of the Berg that we’ve always walked past on our way into our usual areas of the Berg. I started getting a few clad coins and a couple wheats, and the interesting doorknob-shaped object. We continued wedging ourselves in between the bushes and trees and I eventually came across a nice signal that turned out to be a wheat…but I rescanned the hole and discovered that there was a quarter signal about a foot from my hole. So I dig and find a 1948 nickel. Hmm…I rescan and find the wheat penny…rescan…silver! An awesome 1952 rosie. I rescan again…and still, a nice quarter signal. Excitedly I grope around in the dirt and see the 1945 quarter. It was nice to get lucky with a spill like that.
24 wheats...and the pics don't justly show the crazy luster of the 52 dime
Any ideas?
And to prove that not every outing is kick-butt, below are a few things that I’ve gathered on a local hunt with Mirage for a few hours about a week or so ago in a hammered park.
Thanks for looking all, HH! 8)
