Found this today. It's marked sterling and maybe a maker mark on it. I like to get a idea how old it is & what it could be.

Ya, hard to tell what precedes the word “Sterling”on it.

I'm trying Red-Coat but my abilities of taking a sharp up close picture are not to good.

I understand, but your pictures are too small. Can you not change your camera or phone settings to get a larger image, as well as getting as close as you can? The actual mark is barely 80 pixels wide in your latest picture, so any attempt to zoom in or enhance doesn't provide any detail:

What I meant is I don't know how to make adjustments to my camera to get a better sharp close up. I need to look more into how to change pixels and settings on my camera.

Almost looks like it says casterline

Looks like a fish facing left to me before Sterling.

I'm sure it says 'STERLING' but what's before that is unclear. It does look a bit 'fish-like', but it could be something with a left-pointing arrow through it; or it might be a pair of initials around something, with the right hand part being a letter 'K'; or a whole host of other possibilities.

This is the best I can do with pics ... need to learn more about changing my camera settings.

I think it is Uncas, who were known for their jewelry, particularly their rings. It is probably a cut, flattened ring. An arrow, pointing left, pierces the letter U.

First off I like to apologize about my picture quality. I know it can be frustrating to someone trying to help ID something when the poster has bad photos. My iPhone 12 mini doesn't have the greatest camera. Woodnhead I believe you correctly ID what I have. I looked at the hallmark through a jewelers loupe and it does appear to be an arrow going through a U going left. When I found it was bent up and I flatten it. Thanks everybody for your help. I'll put this down as solved.
