Found this today and the home owner loved it so I gave it to him. The problem is I do not know what it is, but I told him I could probably find out. The house dates back to 1810 or before.

All of the above are correct. That's a very nice find.

Very nice find gold panner and even nicer of you to offer it to the home owner. You’re a true gentleman.

Thanks for the help! I called him to tell him exactly what it was and he offered it back to me, but I know he likes it so still let it stay at its home. The excitement for me is finding (but I will admit I do love my coins).

Unique find!

Nicely done, and all the best,

Very nice find. I'm sure the homeowner was appreciative of your gesture.

It is the "guts" of a buckle. From my buckle book it dates from 1720 - 1790. :occasion14:

RINGS UP 1700s
