I don't have a product yet but I do have an idea.
Does a 20$ fix to render you pin pointer waterproof seem reasonable? This would not only waterproof but protect it from other environmental destruction.
I could create a prototype to test on my own pro pointer. It would be easy to do a one off but making many would cost a bit. Just trying to see if there is a feasible market for the idea. Not looking to get rich. I just have the resources to create something and I think there is a need.
Let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

A zip lock freezer bag works just fine.

There's a guy on YouTube named aquachigger. If you check out his videos he shows how to waterproof a Garrett pinpointer

My idea involves waterproofing, abrasion resistance, and impact protection while still being functional and not cumbersome. It would give protection to great depths which might make it feasible for divers. The removable product would allow you to choose when to apply the protection.
I understand a ziploc works however would you trust that if it were to be dropped in flowing water? Plus, the bag could be compromised if rubbed against a rock or snagged on wood.
Just trying to see if anyone thinks this would be a useful product as I've explained it.
Thank you for your input so far, I look forward to hearing more.

Without the money to fund patents, development and production can't you somehow secure your idea, then take it to one of the current manufacturers of pin pointers and sell your idea to them for at the very least royalties? If that don't work see if you can get on the TV program "Sharks".......... No .....I'm not kidding. I've seen them invest in some pretty weird stuff in the past.....and it worked.

Hey I read this after it posted and I had to edit it. Just incase you take my idea and run with it I think I need to be considered when you start getting those royalties LOL. Good Luck.... Seriously.

99% of hand held pinpoint users don't really have a need for anything other than a zip lock baggie (or 2-3).

Can't possibly see there being a viable market.

Good luck.

There is a waterproof pin pointer! Vibra tec. Frank 111-1 profile.webp

I've thought about going to one of the manufacturers. Its almost too easy of a solution to reveal without some sort of protection. My $20 estimate would be for small scall production done in my basement. I sell the required products to make this item and could make one up quickly. I think Ill go ahead and do one to determine further feasibility.
It just seems to me that people would care to protect their investment, namely Garrett pro pointer, when using around water or other rough terrain. For what you pay for the device would seem silly to trust it to a plastic bag. Maybe the market is small but seems I hear a lot of discussion about waterproofing a pro pointer.
Worst case scenario is I'd have my own personal waterproof device.

Then I would do what you have just described. This forum provides a huge market in itself and word of mouth from those on this forum is generally accepted as gold. Most all suggestions and advice I have used from here including purchases of equipment and accessories has been solid advice. Go for it. If you don't try it you will always wonder.

Vibra-tector are all water proof to 100 feet and they are all PI's and looks rather bullet proof too. Just saying I wish you all the best of luck. and maybe I might buy something from you one day.

Just try it....no major loss at 20 bucks and people on here just might buy it.

Exactly! Ill create the prototype in the next few weeks. Currently working on feasibility study and value added components to drive the marketing angle. Will update everyone as I move forward.
