Hi,
I want to leave no stone unturned, so I'm trying to figure out how to encourage the tellers at my dump bank (where I have to turn in rolls; no coin counters around!) to save cool stuff for me. Like half dollars that come from anybody other than me.
But I'm kind of at a loss for ideas. The tellers quietly (and perhaps begrudgingly) accept my $500-$1000 worth of rolls, and I've made sure to be really polite and friendly to them; I brought chocolate last week as thanks for their trouble in handling all my deposits. I haven't really explained to them why I'm dumping; I try to avoid volunteering that information.
I'm just trying to figure out how to "break the ice" here to get them interested in helping keep an eye out for deposits of halves (and big $1s) that others bring in.
I guess I'm not sure how to bring it up since I would be dumping anything I didn't want back there (mixed in with my other finds) although I suppose I could rewrap any CWRs to make sure they don't recognize anything I got from them.
Anybody have any ideas and stories about dump banks in a rolled coin situation where they accept your dumps, but save other people's deposits for you? Something to bridge the disconnect from "I don't want these halves" to "I want any other halves you get" ?
