Not sure, but pretty cool relic, Mark!

Cool find. Put it in the "what is it" forum.

Nice find Mark sorry about the focus on the first pic.

The object in the right field is called a 'globus cruciger'; a Christian symbol of authority; symbolizing Christ's (the cross) dominion over the world (the orb).

Just guessing but could it have been worn on a jacket or a hat as a pin?
Maybe that post would hold it in place through a button hole.

Or maybe it was the first attempt at making a punch that puts those holes in the White Castle Burgers... :icon_scratch:

mackaydon, starting at top center going clockwise reads= +a cecar+arad+I. yna. L. bir +
thanks

Just a guess, but I think it looks like a pocket size sundial?

I thinking its a old catholic church related item with latin language words and letters abbriveated ---say latin veration of ceaser -- cecar

Very cool! Can't wait to hear what it is... I couldn't find anything on it.

I want to know..It is a most interesting find.

wow no idea... looks very interesting though. Those are some of the greatest finds Mark... when you are forced to do some research on your find. That's when you learn something new and hopefully very cool.

Maybe it is part of The Davinci Code? Watch out for albinos wearing loin cloths.

Could You make a wax or plaster cast of the inside to show detail?
With a swage seated on the pin could it have been used as a stamp for embossing
copper or brass foil?
this is intriguing.

Maybe a lock to a chastity belt :laughing7: Guy must have been a locksmith.
