Help me identify and is it worth anything? I think it's an agate. Found this in a river in MN

It does look like agate, some call it water agate. I would like to see some pics of it dry though, when you wet a rock and take a pic of it, it makes it more difficult to identify. Cool find though!:icon_thumright:

Certainly is a chalcedony material with agatized bits and vugs with druzzy quartz. Had it time in its original formation it would probably have fully agatized. Got some nice color to. I like IAMZIM's description myself.

Is it worth anything?

I have a friend in Wisconsin that finds those on purpose and cuts slabs to polish. He sells the slabs for 2 to 4 dollars depending on the size. Laker agates are the ones that are worth quite a bit, just google "Lake Superior Agates" and you will see what I mean.....Being in MN, you should be in range to find these kind of agates, I found around 15 lbs of small ones in a gravel pit near the Mississippi river when I lived in Prairie Du Chein for the short 6 mounths I could stand to live out there haha!

Hehh, whats it worth? My answer to that is always: What someone will pay for it. Usually its worth more to the holder than any beholder of the stone.
