Hope this helps some on here. A lot communities have old historical forts and museums . Go through these place . Do not just look and read the history but look at all the old tools , weapons and utensils. Look at the items top to bottom. It will not only tell you more about the area but what our ancestors had to use to survive.

That's how I feel when people detect an old homestead, farm, camp site, etc. etc. and block out the iron. The rusty old metal has a story to tell, a lot more then coins do.
