I could have had 2 free detectors. I had a new seller (she's been on ebay since '99 as a buyer) send me a Sovereign in excellent condition. She did an awesome job for her first sale, the packing she did was overkill. I received this one Thursday.

Today I received an Excalibur, also in great condition with the minor exception of the lower rod seems to have come apart. This from a seller with almost 300 feedback as a seller and around 150 more as a buyer.

Anyway, the one thing both of these have in common, other than both being Minelabs is neither used signature confirmation.

And you would also have been committing mail fraud (up to 20 years in prison), so it's good you didn't.

The point is, why risk a $400 or $600 sale to save $2.35? The newbie seller I can understand. I emailed her back and let her know I was very pleased and positive feedback had been left. I also let her know ebay's requirement and what could easily happen if she didn't follow them. Let's face it, many buyers just aren't very trustworthy. Thankfully most are, but you hear about those that aren't quite a bit.

required on any order over $250, correct?

Yes, and shipping is included in that total as well. I had a dirtbag selling another detector for $235 with $15 shipping. I jumped on it. Turns out he tried sending something First Class to some address in this town. I guess they figured tracking would show as delivered. I opened the case citing it would be impossible to ship an 8 pound package first class and that signature confirmation was required. I won that decision and they used the signature confirmation as the reason.

I'll be darned if someone else pulled the same crap on me about 2 months ago. This time they kept it under the $250 limit, but my post office gave me a more detailed tracking than is available online. It showed whatever was sent was delivered to a local Walgreens. I got a statement from the manager and won that case as well.

I won't buy anything from low feedback sellers in southern California any more for sure. The second time I hit the buy button before checking everything out carefully.

I don't think anyone would be so naive to be that trusting, so the most logical reason is she is not very clear on how the system works, and thinks as long as the detector was insured, she's covered.
