It is quite refreshing to spend time detecting in the woods without having to douse myself with bug spray or cover my head in mosquito netting. Fall has finally arrived in Massachusetts! I spent this afternoon re-visiting a spot near home that has been pretty productive in the past. I was happy with the variety of coins and relics that I was able to coax out of the ground. Nothing was especially old, but the volume of targets kept me on my toes. On the relic side of the equation, I think I like the old padlock the best. Nice patina. I think it should clean up well.
There were a good number of clad coins, including two buffalo nickels and four wheaties.
The highlight of the hunt were the four silver coins. All dated to the early/ mid 1940's. The half dollar is in great condition too!
