That would be good if a guy could get unenjoyment through the winter...

Yeh, or perhaps lower employment expectations, and just get a new job wherever you end up.

Actually thinking on it between Michigan summers, and someplace warm in the winter, because I can push myself into a seasonal job like that.

If the work is plentiful that would be fun, but could be also be rough, guess it would depend on how much a guy could save up...

Wyoming in summer/Arizona or New Mexico in winter.

So If you could move to a place to work 8 hours a day and prospect after work or on weekends where would it be....In the USA lower 48

Congress, Arizona

There are ALWAYS jobs available at National Parks.

With the concessionaire that contracts with NPS or the or the private hospitality/support industry in the area.

Figured I'd throw that out there.

Its hard to recommend to anyone to move to Ca.

But my answer is The Motherlode area or Northern Goldfields.

I moved where I did for a reason. Two producing claims eight minutes away.

Two new ones fifteen.

Just located discovery piece was a 1.6 gram gold quartz piece

First two days on a patch. Dug more than the claim fees and recording fees for the first year.:icon_thumright: 76899302_435875557097097_793234250018062336_n.webp

Brought dry washer down yesterday. going back again today to run more of the material I've raked. To grab what ever fines are there.
And get the dirt out of my way for more detecting.77392570_270276800585206_6970302098260885504_n.webp 75627353_431661487769959_6527031331233202176_n.webp

I really wish it was near water for better processing. But I'll be ok8-)

You can do it:thumbsup:

Summers in Colorado, winters in Arizona.

Down Under - Oz, mate!

If restricting it to here in the US, I'd have to hope for a Forest Service Or Park Service job in AZ, CO or NV.

I left California when I was 15, and never had the desire to go back.

Well if I was going to be a weekend miner I would do so where I would like to live and work. Then I would determine where I could enjoy weekend outings....prospecting/mining. If I wanted to make mining my vocation I believe I would go to British Columbia and get out in the northern bush country. Mining in the US has become a real challenge dealing with the regulatory agencies; and I have had enough of that over the years.

I can't imagine how you could have the energy to still prospect after working 8 hours a day 5 days a week, are you guys superhuman?? Digging for gold is the most exhausting, physically damaging and most life threatening hobby I've ever done!

Nope just a MAN, my job doest require physical labor and I think working out is a waist of time...

Colorado year round for me and I moved here in 06. California has everything I love and I would have chose Cali except I dont like the commies in charge and everything is illegal. I wont nueter myself to live there for any amount of gold.

I'll stay where I'm at. Retired and have 2 different locations each about 36mi. from the shack and another 200mi. from the shack I go to for gold. Love (and hate) winter but winter allows me to switch hobbies to chasing predators with trail cams and gives me lots of time to dream about detecting for gold next season, new strategies, etc.? I'd most likely get bored with no change in seasons or only one hobby to pursue...???? JMO...
