Audio modulation is basically a setup on metal detectors where the target response audio is affected by the distance of the target to the coil. So.....the closer the target to the coil, the greater (louder) the audio response. The further the distance from the coil, the less (quieter) the audio strength. Both have their benefits.

That should be a no-brainer for most people that use "Pro" mode in any detector. It helps when your trying to figure out distance\depth the target. Let's hope this is on the new series Garrett comes out with.

No, I think it's counter intuitive to take the deepest and possibly most valuable target signal and make it quieter. JMHO However, my hearing isn't the best either. :)

Looks like when you give your report to Garrett for the AT Pro II, :icon_thumleft: we are going to have to have an adjustable switch to turn audio modulation on and off for those of us with different hunting styles

The only reason I could come up with to turn it off would be.

Can't think of one. Can't imagine getting the same feedback from a big galvanized pipe two feet under ground as I would a piece of silver at three inches.

You can adjust this on the E-trac (volume limit) I set it to give me the same loud sound as a shallow target for a deeper target. Why miss that deep coin cause the leaves crunching under your feet was a little too loud? You can glance at the screen for the depth rather than guess according to sound and possibly miss it.
