Check with your local coin dealers. One close to my house will pay $1.02 per clad Ike. I've heard of other coin dealers paying $1.10 each. I sell mine to a teller who collects them. She sells me the silver she finds (at face value) and I sell her Ike's. It is a pretty nice system we have and each of us is happy!

In addition to the above I beleive there are a few findable errors or rare dates or something... someone else will be along to tell you about them. Ikes are like the coin I know LEAST about. =(

so cool, they are worth something then - groovy!! Thanks!

Any more info would be appreciated :)

Everytime I go in to my banks, I always ask if they have any "large dollar coins" or "big dollar coins" and they look at me wierd and say no. They all have the small dollar coins though. I guess everybody is keeping them or the banks just get rid of them as soon as the get um.

I have given up on requesting big dollar coins. I have gone thru a couple thousand in Ikes and have never found anything worth keeping. I think that the 40% Ikes are fairly rare to find in the wild, and if not in pristine condition, are worth less than a 90% half with respect to silver value.

I scored a 76-s "type one" proof copper clad today, about mint shape. One of the harder ones to find. Worth about $10 bucks to someone, at least it says that right here in the Red Book :icon_study:. I'm gonna keep searching them till I get a Peace, Morgan or ASE! May take a few years but what the heck with the current pace of Walkers and Bens showing up in boxes and rolls maybe people are about to cash in the big silvers too!
