I'll NEVER Get These Home!

I wasn't using a detector but did eyeball these today!

While doing research on the cannon fragment I found last weekend I learned of several cannons that have been abandoned near where I live. Little Patrick and I decided we were going to find them. It took some treking as they are well off the beaten path but we found them.

I shouldn't joke about getting them home...5 years ago someone actually tried to remove them from where they've been sitting since 1812 but were only able to move one a few feet. The huge rope in the pictures is actually from the thieves which was left behind.

Jeez ! You had help and rope and did even bother to try?
You're slipping lol
Pretty cool!

That has to be one of the best eyeball finds I have ever seen..your a big guy..just throw one on each shoulder and make a return trip.. very cool!

Just lift with your back in a jerking, twisting motion!

I'm suprised that these haven't been declared historic artifacts by the State (or County).

Y'all are in the drivers seat for notification to the Museums and the like.

This is awesome, thanks for posting up the photos!

Curious as to why they are abandoned. I would like to adopt them if no one wants them. Are they in some sort of park or protected land?

got any pals with a Jolly Green Giant? gonna need a big a$$ ATV or a chopper

Now that's something you just don't walk up on everyday. Seems like they should be preserved. Are they on public property that's protected? Very cool to see

Holy crap! That's awesome. I find it hard to imagine they've just been left there without any interest from local historical societies/museums...

These are on crown land but not near a road. They are on the end of a rocky outcropping so the only way to move them would be by airlift. They are know to the province and the concensus is that they will be relocated at some point in the future. They are close to 5000 pounds each so I guess the government doesn't think they're going anywhere.

Those are absolutely beautiful relics right there!

Those should be recovered and restored for posterity

That is awesome! I can't believe the local government hasn't done something with them yet[emoji53]

So hard to believe someone has not recovered them yet. Those are wonderful!

If they were in philly, they would have been picked up by a crack head and sold for scrap!!
I once had a guy running down the street with one of my 40ft ladders. He only weighed about 90lbs. Lol I wanted to higher him. Haha.
They are awesome, thanks for posting the picks.

Take a big bucket of grease out there and lay it on thick that will help save then tell someone dose recover them.

Ah well, now you did it. Now that you posted them up here, they'll be gone soon enough. ;)
