Welcome back and good luck with those permissions. I am also going back after retirement. Took a break when the kids were in school and in sports through college. Now, the folks who gave me permission have passed away. In some cases, their children are still around but some died without children or close relatives. Last week I went to a place I always wanted to hunt that was the site of a racetrack frequented by G. Washington. It was being used as an airstrip 40 years ago, so didn't want to dig there. Now it has 200+ houses on it. I was almost sick to my stomach. Another old site is now an archaeological site and another is part of a state park, so off-limits. Hope your sites fared better.

Megalodon,
I've had a similar experience: Read an early 1960s archived article about a drag strip and grandstand in a nearby town. Checked out the location. The drag strip has been improved to become 'Main Street' in a subdivisions of homes. Bummer.
