IM frustraded with my cibola

Why need to be near iron to find gold? Well its just the way metals fall into the spectrum. Every piece of Gold is not going to discriminate the same. Gold can occur from just below nickel, up through the zinc range. Unfortunately thats where all the junk lies too. Most of mine have come in at Nickel. If gold was easy to find, everyone would be doing this.
Get a gold ring, lay it on ground (with no other metal objects around or in the ground) and see where it discriminates out. Different thinkness rings will have slight differences. Your manual should cover all this in detail.
Download the Whites M6 manual. The whites has a decal on the unit the shows where different objects would fall into the spectrum.

the manual dosent show or say on certain items just how to set it and go. i did lay a 14k gold ribg and necklas down thats how i found out i have been wasteing my time not knowing how to find jewlery as well as coins. i will check out the site you mentioned

Thanks... im still haveing trouble with finding the object that it hit i always miss it. sometime left right up dow i never get it head on its going to be a while before i use a screwdriver to pull

It can be easy to get frustrated on pinpointing.

See the D.webp in the middle of the D.webp

That's where the strongest tone will be. Try Xing instead of the pinpoint button. Don't look at the whole coil, just the 8x9tesorohotcoil_042507_small.webp

You sound a little frustrated but...don't be. It's all a learning curve. Believe it or not we have all gone through the process. I've had my V for about 6 weeks and had trouble pinpointing at first. Heck, now I don't even bother with the pinpointer. The problem you explained with the disc. does sound funny though.

Planet1mars,

When you are new to detecting or you have a NEW detector the most important thing is to carefully choose WHERE you are going to hunt. Do not try to hunt in a high junk area. Choose a place where there is little trash and the digging is easy. Most fresh water sand beaches are a good pick. Stay in those kinds of places until you are familiar with detecting and/or the detector. You have a great detector, you just need some time to learn it. Joe

Everyone thanks it does help. see i could of gotten a cheaper one, but i havent worked in over a year from my spinal surgery. my future in law who is a doctor wanted me to get a bigger one than a cibola but i chose a cibola for the reviews, and i dont know when ill ever be able to upgrade from the silver.. he wanted me to get in to detecting since walking is the only exercise allowed at this time.. I cant even ride a bike due to if fall i could be really hurt or worse paralize. so its hard as a beginer to go with a threshhold or pinponter..

Got any tot-lots near you????? Woodchip playgrounds are the easiest place to see how the machine will act. I check them out often for the easy pickens!!! The only thing to remember is that metal poles will also sound off, but after a couple minutes you'll learn to ignore these. Go slow and listen carefully and the digging is usually pretty easy. Remember you have to crawl before you can run!!! The Cibola is a great machine :icon_sunny:
