Just from what I see in the photos it looks natural. I don't see any sign of it being altered by man.

Sorry, but that is not an artifact. It has no evidence on it that shows it was altered by man. All of what you are seeing is natural fracturing of the stone and it's also the incorrect material for an Axe.

Please check out these pictures. These are Stone Tools. There are Axes, Celts, Pestles, Grooved Mauls, and Chisels.

They look like possible worm holes fossilized in the stone.

It looks like a softer, layered type stone.
