Wife and I found this on our daily treasure hunts. About 9" in diameter, and weighs about 4 lbs. 9 ounces. I believe it is made of copper. I think the intials of who made it are: J.M.S. And I think it was made Nov. 27, 1917.

This is quite an interesting piece. I wonder if it was a study for some public sculpture somewhere.
 

That's a very interesting casting and yes I agree it probably does date to the later 1910s. Who ever designed it may very well be a notable sculptor and artist. Hopefully someone will be able to shed some light on who did commission that. Please don't try to clean it.

Very cool! Actually a nice piece of art. Reminds me of the types of building decor you'll see in old bank buildings.
