Metal Detecting
It was really windy today but it still managed to be a pretty nice day. I only dug up two coins but this 1906 is my first Indian head cent found metal detecting so it put a smile on my face. Hopefully everybody else was able to get out and do a little detecting.

I live in Great Falls but I detect mostly outside of the city limits. I'm sure there are relics & coins to be found here but the parks service states you can only dig with a probe in their parks. I suppose I could go knocking on some doors and ask for permission that way I am able to dig with a spade. I haven't tried that yet.

:icon_thumright: Congratulations on your first Indian. Your best bet is to get permission from private property owners, and do not use a large shovel. The least amount of digging the better the chance of getting more references.

Nice indians. Old digger is right old yards are where the old coins are. Start by asking people you work with or family. It gets easier the more you do it. If a couple people tell you no it might just be the next one says yes. I have probably 80 percent say yes.
