Ahh... Very tough. Doesnt seem like much battering from being used as a hammer stone or a knapper... So, could just be a rock. But its always good to look around... It is possible it was carried to where u found it and just never got to be used by a native american...?? No one was there to know for sure

Yes, its very round. Thats why it caught my eye just being so round. Ive showed a couple people and they both said the same thing. Could very well be a artifact.....or could be a plain rock. lol. So I figured id give this a shot. Thanks for the replies

According to Nez Perce patriot Yellow Wolf, as told to McWorter, in "Yellow Wolf, His Own Story," stones like that were searched out and selected to be sewn into rawhide to make a sap that hung from their wrist. If the stone was found away from a creek bed full of stones just like it, in an area where many artifacts have been found, my swag is that you are onto something that is probably an artifact. Problem is, you can never prove it except to your self. I have one something like yours, found totally out of place, I can't prove it's anything, but I'm also not throwing it away.

It's that old "location, location, location" thing. Any streams, beaches nearby?
Nice rock in any case. (I like round, or egg shaped ones from beaches.)
