a childhood friend of mine contacted me recently. I had been expecting his call as his uncle passed about 4 years ago and we had spoken about dispersing his uncle's collection. His uncle was collector / hoarder. He collected many things, tools, guns, fishing equipment and he had collected lot of relics. A good percentage of the relics look to be reproduction but some look to be authentic. There's a decent group of hardstone which are all authentic.
This man bought, bought, bought, almost like the actions of a hoarder, he may not have had any idea if the relics were good or not. or maybe he did not care. I had viewed his collection in 2004.
So I spent 5 hours Tuesday viewing relics, getting about one third through it, to inspect and determine good from reproduction. she showed me a birdstone that appears to be authentic. I also viewed a 5 inch Burlington chert Thebes from Illinois which looks authentic.
For helping her is allowing me 5 relics from the collection. This axe was one I had selected.
