Info on token needed please

Hello folks!

I found this nifty token in a sand pile at a local park.....it looks to be made of copper or bronze maybe. Measures 25mm. Someone put a hole in it possibly to wear as a charm? Any help on the ID is appreciated.

Ohhhhh, a shoe token. Willow calf being the type of leather that was used. Interesting!

TOKEN AS PICTURED THE FRONT SAYS WHITE BROTHERS COMPANY BOSTON U.S.A. WILLOW CALF. THE REVERSE HAS A HORSEHOE AND SOME TYPE OF ARABIC LETTERING. THESE WERE HOLED BY THE COMPANY AND ATTACHED TO EACH PAIR OF SHOES THEY SOLD. MOST WERE THROWN AWAY. ALSO PEOPLE SEE WILLOW CALF. AND ASSUME IT MEANS CALIFORNINA. WILLOW CALF (cow) IS A TYPE OF LEATHER THE COMPANY USED TO MAKE THEIR SHOES.

This token is listed on page 16 of "TOKENS AND MEDALS" by Alpert and Elman, first edition, 1992, but the only thing they say about it is that it's worth $1 - $3.
