information of fluxgate mag data

fluxgate data over a possible site that is of the spanish mission has me puzzled..stones laid out in a symetric row .any information on "double xing" would be great. also the importance of grid layout on the magnetic northern pole as a first run. what is the best grid lay-out for proper fluxgate magnetometer scan?
