Updated better pics. Inherited some points. ID attempts please.

These points came from a family friend who passed away years ago and my mother just gave them to me. I'm pretty sure they are from Texas but not positive. Mainly I'm looking for age opinions and if any of them are rarer or more interesting.

You might have a few from TX but the pics are small and not very clear. Need some close ups if you dont mind.

I second that- and glad you're going to post more pics. Focus on the ones with really good, intact bases- there are a few I can just barely see that are wicked western! Yakker

Deleted the little pics and posted better ones. Sorry it took longer than I said it would but our wifi went out then I had work (Night shift and partial weekends).

I am new to this site and this is my first post so please bear with me.
Most all of the points very well could be Texas points. I will try to identify them and post the possible time era for each one. The idents and time era are based on the Dan Davis book, Prehistoric Artifacts of the Texas Indians along with Turner and Hester book, A Field Guide to Stone Artifacts of Texas Indians.
From top to bottom;
1.) Frio Point: 1000 BC to AD 500.
2.) Ensor Point: 1000 BC to AD 500.
3.) Edwards Point: AD 900 to AD 1050.
4.) Harrell Point: AD 1100 to AD 1500.
5.) Bulbar Stemmed: AD 700 to AD 1700.
6.) Wells Point: 3500 BC to 2500 BC.
7.) Clifton Point: AD 1200 to AD 1500.
8.) Evans Point: 2500 BC to 800 BC.
9.) Washita Point: AD 1100 to AD 1600.
10.) Harrell Point: AD 1100 to AD 1500.
11.) Scallorn Point: AD 500 to AD 1200.
12.) This one is hard to identify. Can't help on this one.
13.) Ellis Point?: 1500 BC to AD 750.
14.) Abasolo Point: 5000 BC to 2500 BC.
15.) Is this made out of metal? If it is made out of some type of stone I have my doubts about it being authentic. Just saying.
This is the best I could do. Hope it helps you. A lot of these we're very hard to identify due to some of them being dinged up.
Allen Hatley.

Those are very nice. Thanks for sharing.

The points look like Texas points to me, but the hook looking item looks to be metal, so I don't think it is NA. It looks like it was made to be inserted into something. Thanks for posting:thumbsup:

Wow- San Antone- welcome to you. That's quite a list, and I completely defer to the TX experts. That's a lot of work- that list. And I agree w/ others here- if that little hook is metal, it's a curious suspect (like why would it be there (in the collector's frame) if someone had found it?- perhaps a mistake on the part of the collector? Who knows?) I hope some other experts on items more western/TX based will come forward w/ more info- if there's more info to be had! HH Yak

As far as the little hook, I would doubt it being authentic if it was made from stone. If it this hook was metal it could be very possible that it may have been found in an old Indian campsite. The Indians of south Texas moved quite often especially the Comanches. They raided the Texas settlers and this hook possibly could have come from a raid. I know the Indians also took the metal bands off of barrels and made metal points with them. Not to mention the fact that metal arrowheads were also traded to the Indians from the time the Spanish set foot in the new world. The hook also may be something that was dropped by any one of the many travelers thru Texas. I have found 2 metal and 1 copper arrowheads, all 3 next to the Rio Grande.

I'll have to check more on the hook. It just happened to be in the box with the points so I have no other passed down info. It feels like stone and has a dull thud when dropped on a wooden tabletop. Heavy for its size too. I'll update when I know more.

He collected other western items as well so it could have just been put with the points when his family was organizing his things.
