Interesting bone found in river…who or what worked it over?

Walking the river for fun with my five-year old and came across this. It was with a few other bones. It looks like it was worked over pretty good. I couldn’t find anything else like it.

Nice find. In my area the pack rats or rats will chew on bones & make Mark's in the bones similar to that. Something to keep in the back of your mind. They especially like to chew on antlers & horns in my area. Thanks for sharing.

I did look up porcupine chew marks, which they look like, but porcupines haven’t been in Iowa since the 1800’s.

That looks to be the ear bone of a North American giant. Clearly he was married.

I found some pictures of bones that had been chewed by porcupines that looked exactly like this. Must of died over 100 years ago since porcupines haven’t been around here for a long time.

As for Sasquatch, my little guy thought one might of been following us, but no sightings reported as of yet.
