I uncovered this brass tag while tilling my vegetable garden. Our home was built in 1914 so there have been many occupants from then to the present.
The tag's origin is from the Illinois Commercial Men's Association, Chicago, Illinois.
It might be a tag to put on a key ring so if lost, it would be returned to the association for redirecting to the rightful owner.
The big question is how did it get from Chicago to my back yard here in the Central Valley, California? That most likely never be known.

Visiting relatives in years past.

Unique find :)
Hope you find and post more information on it :)

Neat find. I Googled Illinois Commercial Mens Association, and quite a bit of info came up on it. You can check it out, rather than me posting it all here.

1000 possibilities for how it got to CA.
I love a good mystery. I hope you discover more info

That's pretty cool. Would have been really cool if the keys and ring were still attached.

Nice!!! Congrats!!!

This tag piece MAY be attached to a group membership insurance policy within the men's group. Postcards indicate a one cent stamped postard and two dollars dues.
