I found this buckle on my land in Vermont, the edges are beveled, unfortunately the center piece is broken.there are remanants of silver on the back.idk about its composition, but it is starting to get a green patina on it,it was approx 8 inches down.any idea if its a shoe buckle? The second piece is what i believe to be an iron heel plate, what i'd like to know is,is there anyway to date such a piece,it was found approx 6 inches down in a dirt berm built up against an old slate celler hole, there are no land records indicating any building here and the cellar hole is nearly collapsed into itself and has a giant maple growing in the center of it.thanks for any help you can provide.
