So I got out with my cousin yesterday.
I found a 1942 S Mercury Dime in the first 15-20 Min.
Just shortly after that, I found a 1950 Washington Quarter.
The rest of the hunt was pretty normal, but just as it was getting dark,
my cousin who has yet to get a pin pointer, called me over to help him pin point a find.
On the way I was swinging the detector and got a really nice silver hit at 6".
I stuck my shovel in the ground to mark the spot, and went to help my cousin.
I then came back to dig the target. When I first pulled it out, I thought it might be a half,
but it wasn't quite big enough. Although it was definitely bigger than a quarter.
It was too dark at this point to see it, but I thought I could tell it had a silver rim, just from the street light.
After cleaning it up and putting the magnifier to it, it turns out to be a
Luxembourg 5 FRANCS from 1929. The internet says it is 625 silver.
It's not in great shape. Any suggestions on how to clean it would be appreciated.
I tried baking soda, and it helped a little. It weighs 7.7 grams.
I included a pic from the internet, to show what it should look like.
