this forum needs more action! I know we have a lot of folks here that are into coins so let me share a few interesting items...
Of course you know that the British Empire was a global enterprise (the sun never sets, etc.) But the coinage was a truly epic undertaking. These coins are all George V, all silver and all about the same size as a quarter... they are also all from different areas of the Empire and commonwealth. They all have the same effigy except for one and that one was the only coin used at home. I am not 100% sure as to why but my guess would be to keep colonial issues in the colonies and not circulate in Britain. The history of colonial coinage all over the world was fraught with such difficulties, it was hard to keep coins in circulation abroad.
