interesting find

This find looks a bit like a hinge but with square hole's in it, it is about a foot long and quite heavy, any help in identifying would be great.

Not sure what it is, but the square holes would accommodate carriage bolts. They have square shoulders which prevent the bolts from turning while tightening the nut.Can you tell us the circumstances of the find? Hope you find what they are. Thanks for sharing with us.
