Found some fascinating nickel rolls lately. I've never seen the design before, and of the 3 (customer wrapped) rolls, 2 contained normal nickels from the 70's to 90's. The third roll had less than half modern dates, and the following:

9 nickels from the 40's (one '42, but no war nickels >:()
6 nickels from the 50's
8 Canadian nickels from the 40's - 60's, including one that looks like a proof
1 ???

I've got 3 questions:

Has anybody seen this type of wrapper before?
How do you tell a Canadian proof?
Can anyone identify the foreign coin shown below? It's not in great condition. The writing looks like it might be arabic, and I think the portrait might be a guy wearing a tall hat (fez?) Doesn't appear to be a denomination.

Any input would be appreciated!

I'm pretty sure the coin is Egyptian.

I have seen a similar design of rolls for quarters here in Canada. I would have thought the coin was Iranian but I must agree it is Egyptian. If you don't mind I would like to know the dates for the Canadian nickels as well if you posted a picture of the nickel you suspect of being a proof then I should be able to tell you if it is a proof or not.

Canadian nickels are 40, 47, 50, 2x60, 2x61, & 64. It was the '64 that the background looks mirror-like, which led me to think it might be a proof, if you can apply US standards that is. I'll see if I can get a picture uploaded.

Reading the little text/writing on the side I came up with this :D I really like those rolls! That blue is a really cool color.

Nor have I. Looks like one of those 'shotgun' rolls that I've heard described on here before

I've seen those coin wrappers fairly frequently, well, more frequently for the pennies than the nickels. Either way good scores :icon_thumright:
