Here's an interesting old sign I acquired recently. Any thoughts on it? Thanks! IMG_7402.webpIMG_7392.webpIMG_7398.webpIMG_7399.webp

bovine limousine? a cow car?

What is the size? Its relative to value Its a good one

It's about 16" x 9". From researching, it seems as if there was some kind of beef contest back in 1894, but I'm not coming up with a lot of info in English.

Very nice interesting sign in great condition! :occasion14:

Thanks!

LImousin is the name of cattle from the Limousin area in France.
Lemoges is a city/commune in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region in France.

Imho this is a price plague from a limousine race cattle show 1894. The farmer would nail it to the stable door to show off. Was pretty common in Europe even into the 80ies.

My granduncle used always to point to those plagues and would ask "Price ox? Is that you or your son?" or something like that.. :laughing7:
