Ring3.webpRing4.webpRing6.webpRing7.webpVentured to my old hometown, which required the obligatory, albeit brief, visit to Seated Park. Hit one small area at basically a crawl swing speed, and, although the soil was very dry, I was getting quite a few good signals. The best were a 1919 Merc and this pretty cool silver ring. The inside is worn basically flat, although there is a small amount of some lettering remaining, but even under a loupe, I can't tell if it's part of Sterling or 925- either way I am certain it is silver. A little research points towards a World War I German Iron Cross ring, from 1914-1915. Please feel free to provide more info if you can!

Thanks and HH all.

Jeff

Whoa...very cool. It’s been a long time since I’ve found any silver. Good job!

Looks like a German soldier was awarded an Iron Cross while fighting between the years 1914 and 1915, very interesting! He may have emigrated to the USA after the war!

Wow very cool ring! And a nice Merc! :icon_thumleft:

That's an incredible ring of history. I'd trade 50 Mercs for a ring like that one any day of the week - as far as finds go.

That’s a cool looking ring with lots of history. Congrats

Please give us more pictures of the ring, each "side", top view, etc. That ring is history, period - and quite unique.

That is a great find a piece of history that meant a lot to someone glad you found it nice merc also

Congratualtions! :occasion14:

Great find ! I too would like to see some side views of the leaves !

Nice silver finds.. thanks for sharing that beautiful ring with us. Congrats

I'm straight up on that ring. Additional pictures will tell us more, but I'm seeing this ring as a potential Banner find. It is historical, it is lost treasure, and it is very very unique on Tnet.

I agree. With DeepseekerADS. That’s an awesome find!

What can I say that others haven't? Yes, definitely silver, definitely awesome. I wholeheartedly agree with Deepseeker, I'm pretty sure that unit has more significance than its getting credit for presently. Congrats on a truly awesome find. Ddf

Nice looking Mercury dime and an awesome silver ring that most likely has some history attached to it. CONGRATS...…...
