Actually dug this up 2 weeks ago but just got all the rust and crude off it today
( to rainy to go out today )
Up on the ridge in Wake County NC at a known union army encampment right at the end of civil war. ( elements of the union 14th corp camped for 21 days in April of 1865)
It has the shield from the great seal on it and after researching I believe it's off of an 1851 Union Air Tight stove designed by Frederick Schultz and Manufactured by Warnick and Leibrandt, Philadelphia.

Interesting that it would be in an area where there wasn't any large plantations or wealthy planters. I'm wondering if maybe it was carried by a high ranking officer.
