I think trdking & coinman are on to it's purpose I think it collects metal in a grinding mill for grain.:dontknow:

Looks like a plumb bob with the attachment for a string broken off.

Could be a North American Indian artifact that is called a "cone", and if made of hematite it would be to some degree- magnetic .
Cones have been found in many different sizes and degrees of refinement.

I wouldn't say unusual artifacts, but really nice finds....axe head, celts, scrapers, points, any many other stone tools

The flat end looks like it's been hammered on. I'm thinking it was use to flare a pipe.
