I found this in Maryland on a site where I have found other old iron tools from the early 1800's. Not sure what this could be but the condition of the iron is similar to some of those old tools I have found. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Weighs about a pound and is probably 1/4 inch thick. I am new to this site and am really enjoying looking at all the great finds people have dug.

Haha yes it reminded me of the PacMan ghost when I plopped it out of the ground!

In taking a second look, I wonder if it could be a section snapped off of an old window weight where the sash cord would have attached?

First thing that I would of thought for a ID if I dug it out is the end off a hand forged strap hinge.

Looks like the hole was punched by a blacksmith, as opposed to drilled, which would be more modern.
