Found this today about 6 inches down. What do you guys think, is it iron ore?

My first thought too was that it looks like wood.

What kind of signal do you get, VDI number, tone ? Is the signal consistant ?

Wood is not metal !! Iron should be red... I think its coal/hot rock.

I think maybe it's just a bad pic, but it's definitely not wood. I will try and get a better picture
