I’m an 8th grade teacher in Connecticut. Recently I bought some new metal detectors for my students to use. Some have been exploring a wooded area next to a marsh. Today they made this discovery. It’s an iron plate (9.5”) and a movable arm (13”) with a small wheel. I have no idea what it is, and they’ve been trying to get an answer. Any ideas??? Thank you.

I,ll take a stab.Looks like some kind of castor wheel. The big rectangular plate would mount to a pallet type structure and the wheel allows it to roll easily.Usually mounted in pairs or quads. The longer narrow part would allow the assembly to pivot down and lift the wheel to keep it from moving when you don,t want it to.Might be right, might be wrong, nothing ventured, nothing gained.Nice any how.

Thank you. I’ll share your guess with my students!
