Is this a real iron or whold they have made one this small? It,s about 1 1/2 in thick and very heavy iron.Did not find the handel that pops in.Thanks for looking.
When ironing, the person would have many irons in the fire(hence the saying) , and when one cooled, he would take another and put the cold one in the fire. You used the same handle for all of them. I saw 3 of those out at my ghost town this weekend by someones bottle digging holes. Pretty cool.
Sometimes the smaller the iron the older,Depends on what type of clothing they were ironing. Smaller iron were used for more intricate ruffles and pleats.
