Is it an axe or river rock?

I found this piece last summer in a creek bed. I rarely stray from fields, but will from time to time. I have a full grooved raised ridge axe head, and this rock looked somewhat like it. I picked it up took it home, and then discarded the piece. A few weeks later, I recovered it, again. It looked too much like an axe , but what kind of axe? I've never seen one like it if it is an axe . Give me your opinions.

Ps. You can't make me mad on this one











The last pic has a label on back side, I wrote tang axe on, because I was told that was probably what it is. I don't know??
