Pick this up today at an estate sale it looks like it says patent it October 1880 06 or 09. It looks like an old dentist portable/pocket tool set.

Not Civil War (1861-1865) vintage but plenty old and a neat find. Patents were good for 14 years (design patents) or 17 years (utility patents). Can anyone verify if these are actually dental tools, surgical tools, or perhaps woodworking tools?
 

These are surgical tools not dental tools. The curved tube looking things on the left are catheter's and the slotted looking piece on the right is a blade director. Though post CW, this is basically the same tools they used during the war. Exactly what tools were in the set varies and depends on who actually carried it. Are the handles ivory or bone?
