Is it gold ? Found it lurking around in my pan! First attempt at finding gold.

Smash it with a pair of pliers or on a block of steel with a hammer.
Gold is soft and with flatten out like lead would.
Other lookalikes will usually break or shatter.

Radio shack sells a 30x pocket microscope for about 10 bucks, makes those specs look like big nugs, and easier to identify. GL.
