Found this on the same property I found the melted down silver. Not really sure but maybe someone knows. Its not magnetic. Its about the size of a quarter but wieghs almost an ounce. I scratched it on some porcelain and it left gold colored flakes. Im just not sure if it could be brass or bronze. Im still new.

Was it that color when you found it? Bronze would have been green. Tony

It had a light layer of a dark or purplish color, Almost like an iron color but a purple tint to it.

It looks like Gold, if it's been near iron, or iron in the soil that would cause the purple tint.

Hmmm That makes sense, the iron audio is pretty constant around there. Thanks

Brass has a distinct odor. Rub the nugget between your fingers, then smell of your fingers. If it has an odor, it is brass. To know the brass odor, rub an old brass house key.
