Is it petrified wood or chert?

Hello! I've been rockhounding in Oregon but don't know what I have. I've been told it's either chert or petrified wood. I'm looking to be educated. Thanks for your time!

yes pet wood, but both are cryptocrystalline silicates (CCS).
